Our Story
Over 40 years of connecting readers with books they love.
The Book Nook opened its doors in 1982, when Margaret and Thomas Sullivan decided to follow their lifelong dream of opening an independent bookstore. What started as a small shop with a carefully curated selection of 2,000 books has grown into a beloved community institution spanning over 10,000 square feet.
Today, run by their daughter Emma Sullivan-Chen and her husband Michael, The Book Nook continues the family tradition of connecting readers with extraordinary books. We believe that in an age of algorithms and recommendation engines, there's still magic in discovering a book through a conversation with a passionate bookseller.
Our store has weathered recessions, the rise of big-box retailers, and the digital revolution by staying true to our core values: expert curation, community connection, and exceptional customer service. We're not just selling books – we're fostering a love of reading and creating a welcoming space for literary conversation.
