About

Capturing authentic moments through the lens of fine art photography.

Portrait of photographer Alex Morgan

Hello, I'm Alex

I'm a fine art photographer based in New York City, specializing in portraiture and landscape photography. For over a decade, I've been exploring the intersection of light, emotion, and authentic human experience.

My journey into photography began with a simple film camera inherited from my grandfather. What started as a hobby quickly became an obsession, and eventually, my life's calling. I find endless fascination in capturing fleeting moments of beauty and transforming them into timeless images.

My approach is rooted in minimalism and authenticity. I believe the best photographs happen when subjects feel comfortable enough to be themselves. Whether working with natural light in intimate portrait sessions or chasing golden hour in remote landscapes, I strive to create images that resonate on a deep, emotional level.

When I'm not behind the camera, you'll find me exploring new cities, reading philosophy, or experimenting in the darkroom with film photography - a practice I maintain alongside my digital work.

My Approach

My photographic philosophy centers on minimalism and emotional authenticity. I believe that less is often more - that by stripping away unnecessary elements, we can reveal deeper truths.

I work primarily with natural light, which I find has an honesty that artificial lighting often lacks. There's a softness and subtlety to natural light that complements the authentic moments I seek to capture.

Every shoot begins with conversation. I want to understand who my subjects are, what moves them, what they're afraid of. Photography, for me, is as much about listening as it is about seeing.

I maintain a dual practice of digital and film photography. While digital allows for flexibility and experimentation, film forces me to slow down, to be more intentional with each frame. Both inform and improve my work.
