Our Mission
Gallery was founded in 1962 with a revolutionary vision: to create a space where contemporary art could challenge, inspire, and transform how people see the world. What began as a modest exhibition space in a converted warehouse has grown into one of the world's most influential contemporary art institutions.
Our collection spans over 15,000 works from the 20th and 21st centuries, representing artists from 80 countries across every medium—from painting and sculpture to digital art, performance, and immersive installations. We believe art should be accessible to everyone, which is why we offer free admission on the first weekend of every month.
Today, Gallery continues to push boundaries, presenting groundbreaking exhibitions that address urgent social issues, celebrate emerging voices, and preserve the legacy of modern masters. Our education programs reach over 100,000 students annually, nurturing the next generation of artists, curators, and art lovers.
