How We Achieve Sub-50ms Response Times Globally

A deep-dive into our edge architecture, smart caching strategies, and the engineering decisions that make DeployFast blazingly fast.

When we started building DeployFast, we had one obsession: speed. Not just fast builds, but fast everything. Every page load, every API call, every deployment should feel instant.

Today, 50,000+ developers deploy with DeployFast, and our median global response time is 47ms. Here's how we built the infrastructure to make that possible.

The Edge-First Architecture

Traditional deployment platforms work like this: your code lives in one region (usually us-east-1), and users around the world make requests to that single location. If you're in Singapore and the server is in Virginia, you're looking at 200ms+ of network latency before any code even runs.

DeployFast takes a fundamentally different approach. When you deploy, we don't just put your code in one place—we distribute it to 275+ edge locations worldwide.

Smart Caching at Every Layer

Speed isn't just about where your code runs—it's about minimizing unnecessary work. We implement caching at every layer of the stack:

  • Static Assets: Immutable caching with content-addressed URLs
  • API Responses: Stale-while-revalidate patterns for dynamic data
  • Build Artifacts: Layer-level caching for incremental builds
  • DNS: Anycast routing to the nearest edge

The Build Pipeline

Our build system is where a lot of the magic happens. When you push code, we don't start from scratch every time. We analyze your dependency tree and only rebuild what's changed.

Framework Detection

DeployFast automatically detects your framework and applies optimized build configurations. Next.js? We enable ISR. Astro? We pre-render routes. SvelteKit? We configure proper adapter settings.

What's Next

We're not done yet. Our team is currently working on:

  • V8 Isolates for even faster cold starts
  • Predictive pre-warming based on traffic patterns
  • Regional database replicas with automatic failover
