Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about our pottery classes, custom orders, and studio visits.
Classes & Workshops
Not at all! Our beginner classes are designed for complete novices. We'll teach you everything from how to center clay to pulling walls and shaping your first piece. Our instructors are patient and experienced in working with first-time potters.
Wear comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting dirty. Clay can splash and splatter, especially on the wheel. We recommend closed-toe shoes, short sleeves or sleeves you can roll up, and avoiding loose jewelry. Aprons are provided.
Pottery requires two firings with drying time in between. Typically, your pieces will be ready 2-3 weeks after your class. We'll notify you by email when they're ready for pickup. Pieces can also be shipped for an additional fee.
We ask that you use our studio clay for all classes. This ensures the clay is compatible with our kilns and glazes. Different clays have different firing temperatures, and mixing them can cause cracking or damage during firing.
Full refunds are available up to 48 hours before your class. Within 48 hours, we offer class credit valid for 6 months. For multi-week programs, you can reschedule missed sessions within the same session cycle.
Custom Orders
Timeline depends on the complexity and quantity. Simple pieces take 4-6 weeks. Larger sets or intricate designs may take 8-12 weeks. Wedding and event orders should be placed at least 3 months in advance.
Yes! We carefully pack and ship orders anywhere in the continental US. Shipping costs depend on size and weight. International shipping is available for an additional fee. All orders are insured against damage.
Absolutely! We have a wide range of glazes and can match colors to samples you provide. During the consultation, we'll discuss glaze options and create test tiles so you can approve colors before we proceed with your full order.
We require a 50% deposit to begin work on custom orders. The remaining balance is due before shipping or pickup. For large orders, we can arrange a payment plan with 3 installments.
Shop & Shipping
Most of our functional pieces are dishwasher and microwave safe. Items with metallic glazes or decorative elements may not be. Each piece's care instructions are noted in its product description. When in doubt, hand wash with mild soap.
Each piece is wrapped in tissue paper, cushioned with recyclable packing materials, and placed in a sturdy box. Fragile items get double-boxed. We've refined our packing process over years to ensure your pieces arrive safely.
Contact us within 48 hours with photos of the damage. We'll arrange a replacement or full refund. All shipments are insured, and we handle the claims process so you don't have to.
Studio Visits
Yes! Our gallery and shop are open Wednesday through Sunday, 10am-6pm. You can browse our collection, watch artists at work (when available), and purchase pieces directly. No appointment needed for shopping.
We offer guided studio tours on the first Saturday of each month at 11am. Tours last about 45 minutes and include a behind-the-scenes look at our process. Tours are free but space is limited—RSVP recommended.
We have a small parking lot behind the studio with 8 spaces available for visitors. Street parking is also available on Oak Street. For classes, we recommend arriving 10 minutes early to find parking.
