Our Story Among the Stars

For nearly four decades, Stargazer Observatory has been inspiring wonder and curiosity about the cosmos. Discover the passion, people, and purpose that drive our mission to bring the universe closer to you.

Our History

A Legacy of Discovery

Founded in 1985 by renowned astrophysicist Dr. Eleanor Chen, Stargazer Observatory began as a modest research facility atop Mount Celestia. Dr. Chen's vision was simple yet revolutionary: make the wonders of the universe accessible to everyone.

What started with a single 16-inch reflector telescope and a handful of passionate astronomers has grown into one of the nation's premier public observatories. Over the decades, we've welcomed over 2 million visitors through our doors.

In 1998, we opened our state-of-the-art planetarium, bringing the cosmos indoors for year-round viewing. The 2015 expansion added our 32-inch research telescope, making Stargazer one of the largest public observatories in the region.
